Ruby Ward is the Director of Communications for Team 6643. Alongside partner Ben Brussat, she leads all of the team's communications efforts and community outreach initiatives. Ruby primarily handles sponsor outreach and acquisition, formal presentations, and grant presentations through her expansive knowledge of people and the community that surrounds her. Before she was elected as the Director of Communications in conjunction with Ben, Ruby served as a general team member. She appeared at the final day of the competition as an assisting media liaison, also providing general support. Ruby has taken an essential role in the team's aesthetic design, as well as the team's grant presentation formatting. Ruby also consulted on the team's first Standard Operating Procedure.
The Director of Communications manages all team communication efforts, recruiting, website, community outreach, media, managing the team's public image, managing sponsors, and representing the team in capacities including interviews and public speaking. All Communications subcommittees are overseen by the Director of Communications. The Director of Communications is also responsible for all interactions with other committees on behalf of the Communications Committee. The Communications Committee is customarily run by two Directors, who share the title. The Directorship, like all other leadership members, is elected each April 1st in the full post-competition team vote. The Director of Communications reports directly to the Team Captainship.
